Drawing on a desire to make meaning, Elizabeth Randall’s art work arises from her interest in visual literacy, the tendency for human beings to find meaning in what they see. This informs her current work on evocations of the figurative, exploring visual meanings in her images which appeal to the social, psychological and spiritual elements of our humanity.
In her Vicissitude body of work, she is experimenting with the fallen human form and the struggle to rise up from this state. Though concealed, the forms convey visual messages. The aim is for the work to be open to personal interpretation.
